Packing and Heading Out


Our countdown, although not as prominent as our Disney ones, has now ended and we are on our way to Cancun.  Our first stop was to head to Steve's and spend the night before heading to the airport in Newark.  We have a new twist to our travels, Oliver, our little buddy.


Oliver, our rescue pup who is now a year old will stay the week with Steve.  He seems to be getting settled in just fine. Losts of activity with the kids in a new setting.  He will fit in just like a kid.

We are pretty excited.  Our vacation of 5 is a first in a way and with our schedules only getting harder as the kids now get older, is going to be a unique event.

So tomorrow we drive to the aiport and board our direct flight to Cancun and eventually our resort!!

Day 1 - Arriving in Cancu

Uber Steve - THANKS!!! A huge thanks goes to Steve, Michele, and the kids for getting us to our flight this morning and keeping an eye on our little buddy Oliver.   We got to the airport but since we were international, we could not do curbside checking.  Hopped into line, checked in move through security and we were into the Newark Airport headed to gate C80. Day 5 - Rain, Rain, Go Away

Ok, one day out of the sun is enough but not two.  This morning I woke to a sunny morning and headed out for a longer run than usual.  Jen and I had to go back to the time share people with our decision.  Way to much to decide here and now. That took a bit longer but Jill and Jake had breakfast in the other main lobby.  While in the restaurant the rains hit hard.  We did head back to our room and decided to get our swimsuits hoping to get a break between rain bands.  The jacuzzi seemed like a good place to head to but it was filled with others thinking the same thing.  So we found a table under some cover by one of the outdoor bars and played a round of headsup.  It was actually fun just to sit, relax, and laugh while having  few different drinks of a variety of colors! We headed back to our rooms for a little siesta until we can sort our next event of the day!

Day 3 - Trip the Reef

Mornings here are really beautiful.  However, the water is not looking as clear as you would expect. Whatever storms are moving through are dredging up kelp and washing it ashore.  The beaches would normally be perfect but they are different than the sand beaches at Myrtle Beach.  They are stone and coral with sandy areas. Once everyone got up, we grabbed our towels and spent alot of time around the pool.  The pool here at the main section is huge with two small waterfalls at opposite ends.  As far as temps go it is like bath water. In the afternoon we headed over to the marina where we needed to check in an meet our boat captain who would take us out to the reef.  This particular reef is the second largest in the world and still very much alive.  As we boarded the boat we met another couple, Chris and Jill.  Chris was quite the character from Alabama but a nice guy who invited us to go fishing too.
