Day 3 - Trip the Reef

Mornings here are really beautiful.  However, the water is not looking as clear as you would expect. Whatever storms are moving through are dredging up kelp and washing it ashore.  The beaches would normally be perfect but they are different than the sand beaches at Myrtle Beach.  They are stone and coral with sandy areas.

Once everyone got up, we grabbed our towels and spent alot of time around the pool.  The pool here at the main section is huge with two small waterfalls at opposite ends.  As far as temps go it is like bath water.

In the afternoon we headed over to the marina where we needed to check in an meet our boat captain who would take us out to the reef.  This particular reef is the second largest in the world and still very much alive.  As we boarded the boat we met another couple, Chris and Jill.  Chris was quite the character from Alabama but a nice guy who invited us to go fishing too.

As we got into the boat we slipped off our shoes and got fitted with life vests and started out.  At first Jordan began getting nervous and not too happy with the idea of getting in the water.  We zipped out onto the water for about 10 minutes from the marina, stopped the engines and Jorge, our captain gave us a few last instructions.

Into the water we went and began snorkelling all around the reef.  It was really amazing.  All sorts of sea life.  We even saw a stingray and two barracuda.  The water is very clear and really warm.  Something I hope everyone remembers.

Once back we headed back to the pool area where we swam around some more.  Once night rolled in, we headed to our dinner at the Mediterranean restaurant.  It was a great dining experience but we were all feeling wiped out.
