Day 1 - Arriving in Cancu

Uber Steve - THANKS!!!
A huge thanks goes to Steve, Michele, and the kids for getting us to our flight this morning and keeping an eye on our little buddy Oliver.   We got to the airport but since we were international, we could not do curbside checking.  Hopped into line, checked in move through security and we were into the Newark Airport headed to gate C80.

Newark Airport

After grabbing a few snacks we boarded and began our 3.5 hour flight to Cancun.  For me, this was a first travelling out to the country as a civilian.  For Jill and Jake it was their first time travelling out of the country.  Jordan...well...if you ask her she may tell you about Israel.  ;-P

Crying kids and a girl throwing up, and no wifi didn't take away from the excitement of 'vacation'.  United Airlines....we will talk.

We hopped on our shuttle and took a 25 minute drive thru towns to our resort which is a brand new expansion of the original.  Not much of a setting in the town but the resort is tucked away and beautiful

We arrived tired and hungry but needed to get checked in.  After a few changes to our room placement, we met with Gina who explained how to get around the resort and then upsell us on the PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP.  We get to do that sit down Tuesday for the free perks.

Our room is beautiful and the view of the pool area is perfect.  We changed and headed to Dolores which is a buffet style eatery.  Walk in, order your beverage, and head to look at the many different offerings....Mexican, Seafood, salads, Chinese, American, and Italian.  The setting is not your ordinary buffet either...very cool layout.  And then there is the cafeteria which has all sorts of deserts.

We were tired but took a stroll to get the feel of the resort and headed back to our rooms where we listened to the performers down by the pool area.  Wiped out....we all headed into bed.
